    The REAL key to PERMANENT weight control!, April 26, 2007
    By
    Beth T. (Windsor, Ontario Canada) –

    The thing I liked best about this book was its fresh sense of reality and its ability to address PERMANENT weight control in a clear, simple, practical way. Having been on hundreds of diets over the past forty years, I know that Dieting, as we know it, ALWAYS leads to temporary success followed by regaining what was lost and then some–no exceptions!

    The few times I have managed to keep weight off for any length of time I instinctively used part of Delaney’s seven-point system but somehow missed a few of her other–and obviously very important–points having to do with self-image and self-sabotage, the supreme importance of INO, and how to handle all types of Food Pushers who, like the experts, just don’t understand. And the insights she gives are from years of really dealing with the problems, unlike the Experts who research like crazy but rarely have lived with our realities.

    Delaney lost major weight (50+ lbs.) and has kept it off for more than 20 years unlike most of the Experts who have lost perhaps a few pounds and think, because of the alphabet soup after their names, they know it all and want to sell it to us in another dieting-Bestseller-of-the-Month with a gymicky title.

    As a former Library Director, I have a few fancy degrees too, but when it comes to my blubber, my newly diagnosed type-2 diabetes and my high blood pressure, I can tell you they don’t mean squat. The way I see it, only someone who was a chronic dieter who has succeeded knows the true secrets. People who follow the Diet Doctors’ advice fail over and over and over again as the current obesity epidemic is proving.

    I believe in Delaney. Her approach reflects simple common sense, a practical grasp of reality and a sense of humor : ingredients–pardon the pun–for successful PERMANENT weight loss. This book should be required reading for anyone thinking of going on yet another diet and for any of our young people who need to get on the right track, in terms of healthy weight control, and stay there!

    Relatable account of a difficult (albeit POSSIBLE) journey, May 28, 2007
    By
    everala (Philadelphia, PA) –

    Delaney’s advice stems from her personal experience going from size 16 to size 2. I’m positive that her descriptions of the pain she experienced being a “fat girl” hit close to home for many readers, as they did me. The shame you feel sneaking food when no one is looking, hiding behind large clothes as to not draw attention to yourself, always being the “friend” and not the “girlfriend”, of feeling weak when confronted with the strength of your appetite, etc.

    What I found most helpful was not the way she broke the program into steps, but her language or persistence that pervades well into the afterward. There is NO diet in this book, no list of good foods or bad foods, no list of do’s and don’t–because, and this is something everyone who has tried to lose weight knows–diets do not work. Go on your choice, Atkins, South Beach, Zone, whatever, return to your old habits and the weight begins to pile back on. Delaney never fails to add that real weight loss is a process, a lifestyle change, she herself has moments of weakness or doubt, but something inside of her is fueling her to change her life for the better, to put herself first.

    It’s about looking in the mirror and liking the person you see. If you’re comfortable in your own skin at a size 12, that’s a beautiful thing, and nothing to be ashamed of. I felt when reading this book that she was making an important statement for all women, not just “fat girls” or “former fat girls” because when we’re surrounded by images that constitute modern notions of beauty, we all feel imperfect.

    The book makes a delicate stride at examining the psychology of why “fat girls” overeat and what we’re compensating for, something that I’m sure you could only arrive at after a long stint with a couselor or therapist. In that sense it is a real value. For only the price of this book you can get the insight of a therapist, someone who is very experienced with the difficulty in the weight-loss journey. And it only proves that you cannot really lose weight until you sort out the issues that made you fat in the first place.

    It loses a star for awkward product placement and patronizing redundancy. But all-in-all for a weight loss book, it’s an inspiring and enjoyable read.

    FINALLY!, May 8, 2007

    A weight loss book that deals with the emotional side of why we “fat girls” do what we do! It contains practical advice for changing the way we think about and react to food. I have read many weight loss books over the years, and they all tell you the same thing–eat less, move more. Lisa Delaney tells you why those things are so hard for some of us…and how to overcome the obstacles to permanent weight loss. Highly recommended!!!

    Tasty fiber that stores well! Pretty good product, December 30, 2010

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
    This review is from: Vitafusion Fiber Gummies Weight Management, 90-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)

    Now, I had some problems with a Vitafusion gummy vitamin in the past, because of the high sugar content.
    I was a little hesitant to order it since it didn’t list the ingredients. But, it did say sugar free, so decided to give it a try.
    If I was someone debating over getting this product, here are some things I would want to know.

    The taste is really nice – I didn’t actually expect such a fruity flavor, but it is there.
    It must be the xylitol they use to sweeten. There are three flavors, and they are all tasty.
    The bottle listed them as peach, strawberry and berry. I can’t comment yet on the actual fiber
    part of them or how successfully they might work on that, since I’ve only had them a short time.
    I will say that shipment was fast, and I received a fresh, sealed product in great condition.

    I was also surprised by the actual vitamin content of this item. These are good for you!
    A serving size is listed as 2 pieces. The daily suggested serving is just those two pieces.
    (I always look, since some have really low calories per serving size, but they want you to
    take it three times a day! Just once a day, two pieces, with this item.)

    Calories – 10 (not bad);
    Ttl Carbs 6g; Fiber 5g; (Net carbs 1 – not bad!)
    Niacin 50% RDA;
    Vit B6 100% RDA;
    Folic Acid 100% RDA;
    Vit B-12 200% RDA;
    Biotin 25% RDA;
    Pantothenic acid 100%.

    Ingredients are listed as follows (not sure why they don’t list it in the Amazon listing):
    Polydextrose, xylitol, gelatin, natural flavors, malic acid,
    colors (black carrot juice extract, carrot and blueberry juices, annatto extract),
    sucralose, fractionated coconut oil and beeswax.
    Contains NO wheat gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts or soy.

    The item is recommended only for people 18 and up, NOT for children or tweens.
    So, if you have kids, or grandchildren that come to visit, then keep these out of reach!

    The bottle is sturdy and opens easily. (I don’t like the ones you have to push and twist!)
    I have dental problems and can’t chew really hard things or crunchy things, and have a hard
    time swallowing pills. So, I approach all chewables with a little caution. (I tried some other fiber
    tablets that were so hard, I couldn’t chew them at all. Even trying to let them dissolve (in my mouth)
    did nothing. They were rocks in a tube! What you can’t get down can’t help you.)
    These, however, were easy even for me to chew – soft, not sticky, flavorful and easy to take.

    I was wondering where the weight management part came in as opposed to the other fiber gummies.
    Since the ingredients and nutrition info are not listed in detail here on Amazon, I went with this one.
    It states on the back of the package that the “weight management” part is due to fiber keeping you feeling
    full longer so you might eat less, and the B vitamins added will help you sustain energy levels.
    So, the extra buck (vs the fiber gummies by the same company NOT listed as weight mgmt) went to B vitamins.
    If you already take a multi vitamin or have adequate Vitamin B intake, then you might not need these over the other gummies.
    However, I can use the extra B’s, so will gladly take them for now. Should the price become significantly
    different, then I’ll go for the fiber-only tabs.

    I wish the cost was a little lower, but all in all, very happy with this item so far.
    I’ll let y’all know about the actual fiber part! LOL!

    UPDATE – they are working! Won’t get into too much detail, but if you are looking at fiber tablets, it’s a pretty
    safe bet you have concerns in the colon area too. Let’s just say that I was one of those who needed a calendar
    to chart a BM – it was always feast or famine in that area.
    So far, this is actually keeping things moving along like a normal person might experience. They taste so good, I have
    a hard time not taking more than needed, although it might take a lot for me… positively thrilled with my purchase.
    Be sure to drink liquids of some kind with them. If you don’t, they will leave a “fuzzy” feeling in your mouth,
    and can’t possibly be good for your esophagus either. (I tried to just nab them a couple times, and drink later.
    It just isn’t a good idea.)

    Thank you, Vitafusion!

    Probably my new fave Vitafusion product. I’ve tried their multi Vites and the Vitamin D, and they all taste great. But I was wondering if the Fiber Vitafusion Fiber Gummies would taste funky. Nope. Taste just as yummy as the other VitaFusion products, but FIVE GRAMS OF FIBER for two gummies. Wow.

    I normally get plenty of fiber, since I eat a lot of produce, whole grains, and legumes (mmm…beans…). But occasionally, there’s a day I indulge in pizza or junk food and don’t get my legumey or enough whole grain fiber. These fill that gap when I don’t make it to 30 grams of fiber a day (my goal is no less than 25 and optimally 30+). I never have issues with irregularity, and I don’t WANT issues with irregularity, so these are part of my fiber quest now.

    So, yumsy. Though they don’t tell you to specifically, I do recommend a glass of water or more when you take these to keep things moving nicely.

    Each gummy has five calories. These do contain sucralose, green tea extract, coconut oil, and beeswax. So, anyone who has issues with those should avoid. Since gelatin is an ingredient (duh, gummies), these may not be Vegan-Friendly, so a heads up there.

    Enjoy…

    A fiber product that is low-cal AND yummy!, May 22, 2010
    This review is from: Vitafusion Fiber Gummies Weight Management, 90-Count Bottle (Health and Beauty)

    Unlike other reviewers, I do have issues with irregularity. I started eating the Fiber One products, which helped alot, but then I began monitoring my calorie intake and the Fiber One was putting me over every day. Then I found these VitaFusion Fiber Gummies. They are really good – a bit of a surprise considering I can taste the icky of sucralose from a mile away. So good, in fact, I find myself grabbing an extra one for a sweet fix from time to time. And, best of all, I’m regular and on track with my calories. The only disappointment is that Amazon is $4 a bottle more than the bullseye store, but that’s an issue with Amazon, not the product itself.
