Question by Shaun: How can I maximize weight loss on atkins?
I know that eating little or no carbs with exercise is the basis of the program, but will eating certain foods give a boost in weight loss? I heard that eating foods high in fat like mayo and avacado can help. Please let me know.

Shaun,

You should eat balanced for your metabolism. Just before Dr. Adkins untimely death he was beginning to shift his thinking away from an all protein diet. (It’s rough on the kidneys.) Balanced nutrition is the key to successful permanent weight loss.

You actually MUST EAT to lose weight. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but it’s the way our bodies are designed. When you feed your body the proper nutrition it does miraculous things. I didn’t believe it at first either until I was convinced to try it.

Holly cow, it actually worked. I wasn’t hungry, my energy came back, I was sleeping like a baby and I lost inches and pounds. It makes no sense because we’ve been bamboozled.

Here’s what you should do immediately. Get yourself some real food and have a decent meal, complete with complex carbs (no white carbs), protein and fat. Yes, I said fat. Did you know your brain needs fat to function? Low fat and no fat is killing people.

Next find out what type your metabolism is. You can do that for free at several sites on the Internet. Or you can Google “easydietforlife diet-assessment” without the quote marks to get to a good one.

Once you do that and know the proportion of carbs, fats and proteins you should be eating get your hands on a copy of “GOING FAT2Lean”. It will simplify it all, give you the simple rules how Mother Nature designed our bodies. You’ll learn what to eat, when to eat it and how much to eat. You’ll also learn how to motivate yourself and stick with the program, because you will learn this stuff once, but use it for the rest of your life.

So, I hope that this has been worth the read. Let me know how it goes for you. I am certain that once you’ve been convinced of the truth you’ll be saying good bye to pounds and inches forever.

Good Luck,

RICK

—>Avoid foods high in sodium and nitrates, which commonly include processed meats, such as hot dogs and lunch meat. According to “Atkins for Life,” nitrates encourage the body to retain fluid, thereby causing weight gain or slowing weight loss.

—>Count foods with hidden carbohydrates against your carbohydrate limit for the day. “Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution” mentions, for example, that some foods have fewer than 1 g of carbohydrates on the nutrition label as opposed to 0 g. Since the nutrition label makes this distinction, you should count these foods as 1 g of carbohydrates to avoid eating too many of them and inadvertently consuming too many carbohydrates.

—>Avoid foods and drinks with artificial sugar. “Dr. Atkins’ Diet Revolution” mentions that some of these foods and drinks, such as diet sodas and sugar-free candy, have a moderate impact on the blood glucose level.

—>Exercise at least 30 minutes per day three days per week. “Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution” mentions that exercise improves overall health and aids in weight loss.
